The Wheel of Being, of beginning and of ending. The Wheel of Life.
Shiva, the destroyer and the builder. The Circles of Life keep turning,
turning turning. And so one must destroy in order to renew. As it is in
Life, thus it is with model railroads too. And so it is that the construction
of the Broadway Lion begins with the 2005 demolition of the Eregion
Railroad...
New construction begins with preparing lumber, used lumber that came
from buildings that we have torn down. It was stored for many years
down in the barn. This board show used to be the floor in the old
science building. Other boards came from and old farm building and
had more splinters and other organic matter on them.
Below left shows the decks being added to the ‘back forty’. The two
lower decks are 16” wite the top level is 12” wide and as ceen in the
bottome right photo extends across the north wall where the room
reveals its origin as a classroom.
This picture also demonstrates the ‘west
blob’ made of two 3’ wide tables from
the previous layout pushed together to
form a single table 6’ wide by 16 feet
long. The middle of the table cannot be
reached but is not used anyway.
